The radar guns are certified by International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If an officer uses a radar that is not certified, the 'evidence' cannot be used in court to impose a traffic violation.<BR/>We have a regulations list from 4 states stating which radar guns can be legally used by police: http://www.opticsplanet.net/police-radar.html

The problem with admitting you were speeding is, i...

The problem with admitting you were speeding is, if you weren't, you should think carefully. Once you admit you were speeding, you also loose all defenses available to your self. My problem with speeding is the word speeding. Are you speeding by having gone 1 Mile/kilometer over the limit? Speedometers can be out by as much as 10 per cent and therefore technically you don't know if you were going too fast. So having a device thats highly inaccurate, leaves you in the dark. So along comes a Policeman, with what is "claimed to be" an accurate device thats subject to all sorts of inaccuracies, and says you were speeding. How do I know theyre not accurate? Do some research and you will see that a flea power RADAR gun is not much better than a cordless home phone, and isnt even as powerfull transmitter, so is subject ot all sorts of problems, including wrong readings at wrong angles of readings. This creates devious readings if the Policemen is short on his daily quota of bookings and uses this method. Then who sets the limits? If theyre set frustratingly low of course we will want to get a hurry on. How many times have you gone past road works when no ones working and the limits is 20 Miles/kilometers an hour? We are fed up with being ripped of and wont pay any more if we can get out of it. Its become a real safety versus revenue issue...And in my book its not good enough. Not having had an accident for some 30 odd years, I know its not speeding thats the safety issue but not thinking thats a bigger worry.
