Speed Enforcement Billboard from Law Enforcement?

Convincing drivers to slow down without a radar gun pointed at oncoming traffic has been the topic of discussion at many city council meetings.  Law enforcement professionals cannot be around every corner and lurk under every overpass, yet some departments have come up with clever and not-so-subtle ways to curb speeders.

Police radar guns and other speed detection devices have always and still remain as great tools to monitor our streets.  The cost to place one at every corner would be enormous, and the man hours needed are simply unattainable.  In Aurora, Seattle, a traffic safety initiative was launched by the police department that was very in-depth and creative.  Of course the expected crosswalk improvements and curb ramp additions were added.  Also, radar speed signs were added in addition to gun radar point locations.

To top it off, large billboards have been erected stating that speeders can expect a $144 ticket for their violation.  The picture sports an officer with a handheld radar gun pointed at traffic below.  This is a new take on traffic safety and is sure to have motorists thinking twice about their lead foot. Radar Guns Making Holidays Safer

The holiday season is known for its reckless drivers; therefore law enforcement professionals react accordingly by pulling out their radar guns and speed detection equipment and springing into action.  What is it about the holidays that warrant higher speeds on the freeway?  Why do drivers risk life and limb only to arrive minutes earlier?  Regardless of the cause, traffic fatalities are preventable, and a radar gun is the not-so-secret weapon to curb speeders.

In Savannah, Georgia, a man was killed in a traffic incident that could have been prevented by a laser radar gun.  Officers responded to the single vehicle fatal crash at a popular intersection that has been marked as a speeding hotspot.  That same day, local law enforcement beefed up their radar gun patrol and equipped an even larger number of units with gun radar and speed radar guns.  In only two hours, metro officers issued 85 speeding tickets to drivers traveling over 80 mph. Also, a campaign was launched to educate the community about the state’s Super Speeder Law.  This law raises the fine for speeders doing 75 mph or more on a two-lane road or 85 mph anywhere else.

It is never too late to begin implementing an increased use of handheld radar guns and speed detection devices such as speed trailersPolice radar guns save law-abiding motorists from their dangerous counterparts and look to be irreplaceable tools in the fight to reach the pinnacle of traffic safety.  OpticsPlanet takes traffic safety one step further by supplying hand held radar guns and radar laser guns to the professionals that need them most.  Stay tuned to Radar Guns Blog and OpticsPlanet.com.

Radar guns are frequently used on our nation’s thousands and thousands of miles of roadways.  They not only deter motorists from speeding when they see law enforcement aiming it in their direction, it identifies the speeders and eventually removes them from the driving atmosphere.  It is amazing how revolutionary the radar gun and lidar gun technology has advanced, and law enforcement professionals continue to see positive results from their usage.

When Oshkosh, Wisconsin began using police radar guns to monitor traffic and combat speeders, they saw an instant gratification in the form of safer streets.  Now, over four months and 800 citations later, the do not plan on sheathing their speed detection devices anytime soon.  Responding to residents’ concerns, the police department is focusing on high traffic areas to survey.  After seeing a dramatic improvement in speed limit adherence, they have brought out even more velocity radar guns to change the mindset of the driving public.

Using radar guns from such brands as Decatur, law enforcement professionals are seeing agreeable statistical evidence that radar guns are keeping high-risk areas safer for the entire community.  OpticsPlanet carries these life-saving handheld radar guns and other GPS speed timers, all at competitive prices.  Stay updated with radar news on Radar Guns Blog.

Radar Guns Could Change Speed Limit Laws

Not only do radar guns play an integral part in monitoring the speed of motorists on the nation’s roadways, they also help judge the need for changes in speed limits and other traffic components.  When city council members gather with local law enforcement, various statistics are compared and examined to look for a potential need.  Many of these figures are calculated using radar guns and LIDAR.

It is very safe to say that police radar guns save thousands of lives every year, and it is a shame that their necessity is only identified after disaster has struck.  LIDAR guns and radar speed guns keep a close eye on the average velocities of traffic on given days, and by that many officers can begin the process to change the speed if the road structure or conditions deem it so.  Sometimes these findings are dismissed as inconclusive and other times the proposition never receives proper attention.

In Washington, three fatalities occurred on the same roadway within a short period of time, causing a stir in the police department to monitor traffic speeds with laser radar guns.  In this case, speed was not determined to be a cause of the crashes, yet the amount of speeders identified was astounding.  Stay tuned for more up-to-date news on the best radar guns and radar gun accessories at OpticsPlanet.com.
