Police Radar Guns Paired With Traffic Cameras

Decatur Radar Trailer

Since the advent of the radar gun, many motorists have been easing up on the gas when driving.  They clearly do not want to receive a ticket, or even worse, lose their license.  The new controversy that has residents upset is the red light camera, which nabs drivers as they zoom through a fresh red light.  In Elk Grove Village, Illinois, the arrival of 7 red light cameras in July 2008 accounted for more income that any police radar gun, causing a stir within the villagers.

Police radar guns, like Stalker radar guns or the speed guns from Decatur, were responsible for about $600,000 in tickets in a year, compared to the $928,749 that the few red light cameras generated.  They are placed in intersections that have had the most crashes due to running red lights and turning, and these numbers have residents wondering if the new cameras are just moneymakers for the village.  Of course, the mayor believes that if that were the case, all tickets from a radar gun would have to be discredited.

A laser radar gun, along with any other traffic monitoring system, is made to protect the lives of motorists and pedestrians alike.  Monetization should not be a priority, and those that are worried about losing money should slow down.  Red light cameras and the cordless radar gun have never cost any law abiding citizen time or money.  OpticsPlanet believes in safety and offers transit detail professionals the tools they need to help protect our nation’s roadways.  Check out our radar gun selection today!
