todays latest news revolving around radar guns focuses on several countries that are bringing the hammer down on speed law violators. i recieved word this morning of 3 (mexico city/paris/uk) nations that are going to great extents (mexico city most notably) to nab offenders.
mexico city prior to this latest venture (like a year ago or less basically) virtually cared less about speeding offenders. due to perhaps a large number of on-the-road casualties (and to throw in a little beauracracy), some good ole public pressure, the officials are implementing everything from radar gun-clad cops busting merely speeders to installing harsh laws for inebriated drivers (1 offense garnishes you with a mandatory 36 hr jail sentance and a repeat offense permanently revokes your license). the cops radar guns are also equipped with cameras to apparenlty cut down or eliminate the almost infamous bribe system known within and throughout mexico where more or less any offense can be lessened or forgot all together for the right price. these new cameras and the apparent sense of urgency to cease all prior behavior is supposedly running fervently throughout mexcio city.
of the 3 nations i read about today, mexico seemed to be implmenting the most radical approach, even scolding toddlers for "Driving" too recklessly on thier trikes. yikes.
the uk is apparently employing the use of volunteers and arming them with radar guns to nab repeat offenders. while the volunteers themselves cannot apprehend the violators, they can turn over the evidence to police officials who will then take matters in thier own hands and pursue the speedsters themselves.
paris too seems to be cracking down to a similar but lesser degree than mexico.
while this is "progressive" news for officers of the law, it certainly serves as a warning to those out there (and depending which of these nations you reside in the warning ranges from: watch out to or else!) who knowingly violate these laws (you know who are!).
well thats the news for now. more than likey that will be it for the day so to all my loyal readers out there, have a nice weekend and slow 'er down! or face the consequences! just kidding.
ok. im out.
yours, the keyboard monkey.
